Well hey there...

The end of 2014 was crazy nuts, but now I think I can finally say it's beginning to get easier to manage.

Phew!

Sorry for the long break, but between holiday deadlines, plus more family shenanigans, blogging was the very last thing on my to do list. But! It's time to get back in the saddle again! Here's what to expect soon on this lil spot o' internet:

-Makeup capsule round up. I'll tell ya what worked, what didn't, and the cool stuff I learned along the way.

-Stories. Remember that challenge I started a bazillion years ago?

Yeah, it's been stretched out forevvvveeerrrr.

I'm going to get that sucker done finally! Back to regular Wednesday stories!!


-Film breakdowns. I am still watching horror movies, and I'll break down the ones I watch for all you non-horror watching peeps. Trust me, you won't feel a single goose-bump, promise.

-Freelancing updates. I have some goals for this year that I want to share, plus my update for like, November and December I think. Crap it's been a minute.

-Local stuff. Food tours, other local things--I want to do a tab bit more writing about this good ol' town of SLO. Spoiler alert, it's going to mainly be about food.

NEW STUFF

-Book reviews. My taste in literature is really all over the place, so whether you're an 80 year old man who likes bond-like books or a 90s chick who likes to re-read some classics, I've got ya covered. I read a ton of books all the time, so once I'm done I'll give you a review of it to see if it's worthy. You might wanna apply for your library card now, so you can check out some of these winners asap.

 


Also, eventually, I'm going to re-do this site too. It's high time to get it updated, sooooo it might have some shiny new layouts and colors and stuff!

Friday Shit-nanigans

This week has been full of terrible deadlines and frustrating clients, hence the title. I'm over it.

We got this Anthro mag in the mail at work, and so obvi I had to add some of my signature comments and mustaches. When I was a kid, and well into my teen and young adulthood too, I would buy magazines, read them, and then draw all over them. It was so freakin entertaining for me. Literally, all my fashion mags got tagged. I haven't done this in a few years though, so when I saw this in the mail I knew I had to start it up again (re: bored at work). Here are some of my pages (ps: sorry Anthro model for tagging the shit outta yo image, but if it makes you feel better, you totally pull off the pirate eye patch).

So if you have some fashion mags laying around, and don't know what to do with them, or if you take a bubble bath and get bored with your Vogue (like I used to do every single weekend in high school), start tagging them. Trust me, it gets really fun and weird and it's the best thing ever. 

Then put your tagged mags out in the open for your roommates/significant others to enjoy!

Patriotic Party Planning

My favorite holiday is coming up fast, and I need to get planning! 

Here's some stuff that's inspiring me for some 4th of July shenanigans: 

Printable drink tags--yes please!

I like this and I usually don't like typography for artwork's sake, do you know what I mean? Like quotes hung up on walls, just not for me usually...

I've been itching to make macaroons for a while now, and red, white, and blue ones look so rad!

All day beach celebrations are the best 4th celebrations! 

Pie is the key to my heart. Definitely my "desert island food" hands down.

Cake and Bdays

After majorly screwing up yesterday at work, I made this, and it made my mood much happier!! I would highly suggest it, as well as following the lovely The Londoner blog--she hosts a mighty fine one!! 

But today is a new day and it's one of my best friend's bdays!!! She's in Colorado now, and I miss her face way too much to express, so here are a ton of silly pictures of us together through college that make me smile. I miss you Stef!! Have an amazing-funtasctic day boo!!!

My Boo's Bday!!

Yesterday was my boo's bday, so naturally I took the day off to allow for shenanigans. 

Classy breakfast: We had pancakes with a little real vanilla extract added and oven baked bacon (the easiest way I've ever cooked it!). Our TMNT orange juice glasses were a great find since we are both HUGE fans. The champagne is Tobin James, local here and delicious everywhere. Get it and you will be hooked, promise. 

Here's what I got him:

He really likes spiderman, so I figured if we frame a few comics in a classy way, we could easily add them to our apartment decor without feeling like we are kids (well, younger kids, lets be honest we aren't that grown up yet). So I ordered six of his favorites from the 90s and got a huge frame for them. I had to wrap them in scrap-paper/blueprints from work, and even then they didn't cover up the frame very well, so I had to layer them on. It was a little bulky to say the least. 

(That's his card I made him, taped to the front. It's dorky so that's why I'm not sharing a close up--sorry boos!)

I think he caught comic book fever because next we headed to a local comic book store, and he was in heaven. This is only one row of the many that are in this warehouse-sized store!  

They had everything there, including this little gem: 

After going to another shop that was smaller, (not pictured, it was a little claustrophobic in there to be honest), he got two more to add and we set about rematting them. Ta da!

And here he is setting up his train set that he got from his parents. Kind of a toy-themed birthday this year! 

Then we got dinner and saw Hangover Part III, which was pretty entertaining for being a sequel. I need to post my summer movie list--I'll do that soon boos!! There are a handful of films coming out that I'm looking forward to, plus with the movie tickets being only $10 here, it's more affordable than in Long Beach. I guess small towns have that going for them. 

Now back to work and the real world...
