LYRICS: Fun., Some Nights

I love a well written song, and this one is arguably just that. With double meanings, the video below is just one of many different story options this song creates. Watch the video, read the lyrics, and enjoy!
(video and lyrics source HERE)

Some lines are bolded below with an explanation under the video. I have some thoughts about them in particular, but in no way is my opinion the only correct interpretation of these lyrics. I'd love to hear yours!

Happy Friday!!
HM

*Bold lines are ones that really struck me as transparent. They show just how vulnerable the writer is, and how he cannot escape his own thoughts about his life, career choice, and family. He seems to be struggling with fame and keeping his personal life private. Maybe he doesn't want to let his fans know something, but he is having a tough time hiding his feelings. Very thought provoking...HM

LYRICS
Some nights, I stay up cashing in my bad luck
Some nights, I call it a draw
Some nights, I wish that my lips could build a castle
Some nights, I wish they'd just fall off

But I still wake up, I still see your ghost
Oh Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for oh
What do I stand for? What do I stand for?
Most nights, I don't know anymore...
oh woah, oh woah, oh woah oh oh
oh woah, oh woah, oh woah oh oh

This is it, boys, this is war - what are we waiting for?
Why don't we break the rules already?
I was never one to believe the hype - save that for the black and white
I try twice as hard and I'm half as liked, but here they come again to jack my style

And that's alright; I found a martyr in my bed tonight
She stops my bones from wondering just who I am, who I am, who I am
Oh, who am I? Oh, who am I? mmm... mmm...

Well, some nights, I wish that this all would end
Cause I could use some friends for a change
And some nights, I'm scared you'll forget me again
Some nights, I always win, I always win...

But I still wake up, I still see your ghost
Oh Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for, oh
What do I stand for? What do I stand for?
Most nights, I don't know... (come on)

So this is it? I sold my soul for this?
Washed my hands of that for this?
I miss my mom and dad for this?

No. When I see stars, when I see, when I see stars, that's all they are
When I hear songs, they sound like this one, so come on
Oh, come on. Oh, come on, OH COME ON!

Well, this is it guys, that is all - five minutes in and I'm bored again
Ten years of this, I'm not sure if anybody understands
This one is not for the folks at home; Sorry to leave, mom, I had to go
Who the fuck wants to die alone all dried up in the desert sun?

My heart is breaking for my sister and the con that she call "love"
But when I look into my nephew's eyes...
Man, you wouldn't believe the most amazing things that can come from...
Some terrible nights...ahhh...

oh woah, oh woah, oh woah, oh oh
oh woah, oh woah, oh woah, oh oh

The other night, you wouldn't believe the dream I just had about you and me
I called you up, but we'd both agree
It's for the best you didn't listen
It's for the best we get our distance... oh...
It's for the best you didn't listen
It's for the best we get our distance... oh...

GOOP.com

Hey peeps,

Have you heard of goop.com?

It's become my addiction as of these last couple of months. Here are the deets:

-It was created by Gwyneth Paltrow, and hosted by her.
-It's free to subscribe.
-You get an email a couple times a month with topics ranging from food, travel, fashion, beauty, and more.
-Gwyneth actually does these things, such as travels, cooks, and such. She also asks her friends for tips/advice in what they specialize in.
-She collaborates with a different company each month to create something that combines both what that company offers and her own style.
-ABOUT-explains goop first hand.
-It offers advice that is practical, down to earth, and reasonable (which is weird coming from a celebrity, I'll be honest, but very refreshing).

Check it out, I love it. I have been inspired a ton by her newsletters. I really like all the different topics, it never gets old. You might as well browse the site, and since subscriptions are free you don't have anything to lose.

Let me know how you like it!
